2019 Entries
The Absa Business Day Supplier Development Awards, recognises and celebrates big businesses striving for a thriving, inclusive supply chain.
These awards showcase best practice and acknowledge successful Supplier Development Programmes that are making a lasting impact on the SA economy. The inaugural awards in 2018 attracted over 400 applicants and the biggest impact that the process had on participating companies was the dialogue, learning, and formulation of best practices. This year we will build on the success of last year by extending the reach, continued learning and dialogue.

Judging Criteria
We are looking for excellence that goes beyond the scorecard and applicants who view supplier development / supply chain development as;
1. A strategic priority (decision-making flows down from the Executive suite, budget and resources are dedicated, triple focus : procurement, transformation/ ESD and end-users working together, suppliers are supported in the relationships with buyers and the ‘business end’ of the company).
2. A longterm strategy for the business (long term planning, valued relationships, investment in suppliers).
3. A way to build company competitive advantage (articulated in the strategy, and actions of the company).
4. A way to build the local economy (open relationships with suppliers, open networks, market collaboration, willingness to share lessons).
